We are excited that you wish to learn more about DSP (Direct Support Professionals). Direct Support Professionals assist individuals with developmental disabilities by providing a wide range of services including community integration, self-help skills, general nursing care, and overall daily living. DSPs strive for individuals with developmental disability’s to become more independent and live their life’s to the fullest. DSPs provide the support needed to help individuals with developmental disabilities lead more rewarding and satisfying lives.

As a Direct Support Professional, you will:

• Help people live more independently and happily in their homes by working with them to achieve their goals
• Assist with individuals in their day-to-day needs (transportation, preparing meals, etc.)
• Go with people into the community to do activities (shopping, community events, movies, doctor appointments, etc.)
• Provide encouragement and coaching to people who are working to develop daily living skills & healthy habits

DSPs at CVA receive all paid training, including certification in medication administration, CPR, First Aid, and much more.
