DSP Week September 11 – 17 

  • Movie Monday – An outdoor movie day with a projector, bottomless popcorn, and door prizes (movie tickets, etc.)
  • Tie-Dye Tuesday – DSP Week shirts will be white so that they can be dyed! Folks are welcome to bring their own items to dye as well.
  • (Wacky?) Wingsday – BBQ and a day of outdoor games and activities
  • Thrifty Thursday – CARRE Bucks store!
  • Fish Fryday – A fish fry and under-the-sea themed car wash

CVA’s First Annual Community Showcase Dinner

You are invited to attend CVA’s first annual Community Showcase Dinner! The event will be held at the Newman Center, 709 South Davis, on Friday evening, November 8. The meal will be catered by Colton’s Steakhouse. LaHarpe • Sending an email request to cva@charitonvalley.org Chariton Valley Association has been supporting individuals with developmental disabilities since 1982 and now serves over 100 individuals in Kirksville and the surrounding areas. It is our mission to “empower people with disabilities to achieve their highest level of independence through high quality and diverse support services,” and we would appreciate the opportunity to showcase to you the different services we offer. Additionally, our friend Jamie Graham will be having a book signing for his new book, Jive Goes for a Walk, at the event. **Please note: This event will be taking the place of our Annual Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction formerly held in the spring.**

Tiered Supports Conference

CVA was recognized by the Missouri Department of Mental Health for building successful systems and utilizing universal strategies, preventing crisis, and improving quality of life for all individuals and staff. Professional managers Shawna Small and Mike Hartman also gave a presentation on Reinforcement Systems for staff and individuals. Time: Wednesday, March 28, at 2:00 pm Missouri State Treasurer Eric Schmitt will be joined by Terry Combs, CEO of the Chariton Valley Association, in Kirksville to speak about Missouri ABLE and answer questions about the program. The Missouri ABLE program offers tax-free savings accounts for Missourians with disabilities. The account allows individuals with disabilities the ability to save and invest up to $14,000 per year without losing federal government benefits such as Medicaid or SSI.
